About

Wanda O’Brien is a freelance writer, editor, field photographer, mini-doc producer and digital content strategist.

A trained journalist (Carleton BJ ’09) and media development scholar (LSE MSc ’12), she weaves her research and interviewing skills with her expertise in global development and storytelling. Whether reporting on Congolese journalists using the radio to fight sexual violence or Rajasthani farmers taking a chance to up their yields, she tells stories that captivate while addressing underlying social issues.

Pre-pandemic, you could find Wanda reporting from any one of five continents. She’s lived in multiple countries, but made the city where she grew up (go Raptors!) her home base a few years ago.

Post-pandemic, she is managing the lockdown lows by becoming an all-season jogger, seeking opportunities with non-profits looking to elevate their brand identity through storytelling and focusing her journalism on narratives closer to home.
